True Fit & Google Cloud make connected fashion data set

True Fit announced a partnership with Google Cloud for retailers to leverage the Fashion Genome, the largest connected data set for fashion. Retailers can use the Fashion Genome to insert style, fit, and size recommendations into every phase of the customer journey. True Fit and Google Cloud will help retailers go beyond the hype cycle of artificial intelligence and machine learning, to drive value straight to retailers’ P&L. Retailers that use True Fit’s platform on Google Cloud’s infrastructure drive incremental revenue, reduce returns and increase customer lifetime value and loyalty. The improved processing power, speed, and reliability results in faster machine learning for improved shopper experiences, relevance, and insights.

Burberry launches new augmented reality shopping tool

Burberry has launched a new augmented reality (AR) shopping tool through Google Search technology. The AR tool allows consumers to experience Burberry products embedded in the environment around them, enhancing their research and shopping experience online. Burberry is a leading British luxury fashion house, headquartered in London, England. When searching for Burberry items using Google Search on their phone, consumers can see an AR version of the product at scale against other real-life objects. A user can place a TB bag next to an existing outfit to gain a better understanding of the product before purchasing and simulating the instore experience.

The World Economic Forum in Davos announced the first neutral and public traceability platform capable of visualising blockchain-based supply chain data from multiple companies and sources. It was created in collaboration with a dedicated group of champions comprised by Everledger, the Lenzing Group, TextileGenesis and the International Trade Centre (ITC). The new platform aims to help businesses across industries respond to consumer demands for ethical and environment-friendly products. To date, companies have self-published such data or relied on blockchain solution providers to do so. The pilot platform resulting from this initiative can ingest blockchain-based data from multiple sources and visualise it on a neutral site, according to an official press release.
