What is the size of knitwear manufacturing sector in India? Which segment has high demand? What is the concentration of knitwear being sold online? What are the innovations taking place? What are your future plans?
In the 21st century, India has been an emerging nation in knitted clothing sector. As of now, we would say that India exports around 44-45 per cent of the world's knitted products.
According to market indicators and also as a consumer, I can say that knitted products are more suitable and preferred over woven fabrics because of the climatic conditions in India. The knitted industry is growing at a tremendous speed and has a great growth rate. The knitted industry is big in our country, and knitted fabrics are used in garments, home furnishings and in the technical textiles sector as well.
Nowadays, women prefer knitted products over woven products for daily, ethnic or even inner wear. Knitted fabrics have a high demand because of the rising trends. The European markets also have had a high preference for knitted garments for years; so, the export percentage would be a large number as the trend continues. In the knitted garments industry, we could say that cotton Lycra, polyester Lycra and nylon Lycra are the most consumed blends at the international level.
I as consumer prefer knitted garments for my daily clothing that might be casual, gym or just nightwear; and as today's life itself is fast, online remains the best destination for shopping.
With the increasing demand of knitted products, the knitwear industry is doing research and development in designing new technical products and also creating new knitted fabrics. As knitted industries are growing fast, imported machinery from Europe and China have been installed by knitters. But the main obstacle is the aftersales service and maintenance (for future). Technical issues and compact yarn act as barriers while using such machines.
According to me, machinery manufacturers must provide a technical support team and have a store with spare parts so as to replace the damaged ones and ensure uninterrupted production.
Sanado is an Indian brand manufacturing women's hosiery. We have been in the business of manufacturing for the last 30 years. We manufacture various textile fabrics and it was about time to expand our current business and enter the garments industry. The company's growth rate has been consistent, and we want to reach each and every home in our country.
We manufacture products like leggings, palazzos, patialas, harems, pants, capris, and sportswear. Among them, leggings and palazzos are in demand in every market. Since India's population is huge, retail outlets have always been among the first priorities (i.e. shopping destination) of end-users.
