Have Indian consumers warmed up to re-selling and up-trading? How do you ensure the products being sold are genuine? Do you plan to add new product categories?
Initially, preloved fashion was a very new concept in India. People were only familiar with re-selling of jewellery, so the idea of re-selling their closet both surprised and excited them. From then to now, we've noticed consumers have warmed up to the idea to a vast degree. In fact, every 5th sale we make on Zapyle is a repeat purchase. Handbags and Indianwear are our top selling product categories. Our consumers love finding authentic international luxury brands at such great discounts. Most of our sales are from metro cities including Bangalore, Delhi and mostly Mumbai.
While it might be trickier to get the attention of a consumer to preloved at first, once they go through the Zapyle experience, we've seen customers become regular ones because they love it so much. We have an average return percentage of 8 per cent, which is fairly low compared to Indian ecommerce standards mostly on western clothing because of sizing issues.
Zapyle rests on a strong policy of authenticity. All the products listed on Zapyle are 100 per cent authentic. We only approve products with high quality images and which feature in our list of 550 brands. Our trained in-house professionals, including apparel experts and handbag appraisers ensure that every item sold and bought on our platform is 100 per cent authentic and in great condition, preloved or brand new.
A trained team of luxury experts passes every item to be bought or sold through a second round of brand-specific quality/authentication process where they are checked on a multi-point system, before they are accepted for consignment. Each item is inspected for original brand logos, date codes, serial tags and hologram stickers before it is curated into daily sales.
While solving the problem of luxury fashion being inaccessible, unaffordable and quick to change, we thought it would be great to bring designerwear from the world's best designers and labels at slashed down rates, exclusive only to our platform. This would be inventory directly from the stores of labels and designers, bringing more to the table of the Indian woman shopper as opposed to designerwear just being available to a niche market that frequent the stores and boutiques.
To start with, Zapyle has just launched the latest collections of a host of India's best designers on our platform - from seasoned Fashion Week dress makers to fresh, young designers on the scene - including Manish Arora, Varun Bahl, Ashima Leena, and many more, all available at deeply discounted prices. Wedding season is coming up, so our customers can have all their upcoming wedding outfits sorted with the click of a button. No more hunting store after store for less than exclusive pieces, no more spending outrageous amounts for not-so-great designs.
