Corporate Responsibility

Maintaining a safe and healthy workplace
In addition to striving to meet or exceed environmental regulations, the health and safety performance and employment practices of INVISTA facilities throughout the world are consistently high. When working with INVISTA, customers can be confident about the integrity of their supply chain.

As an example, in 2011, the staff members of INVISTA’s Benger Lab research and development facility (in Waynesboro, Virginia, USA) completed a major milestone of 2 million safe-work-hours without an on-the-job recordable injury or illness. Also, as of 2011, INVISTA Apparel’s Paulinia, Brazil, site operated for 37 years without a lost-time injury or illness due to its outstanding health and safety practices.

Additionally, four INVISTA apparel fiber sites earned “Perfect Year” status in 2010 for zero recordable injuries, zero environmental agency reportable incidents, zero notices of violation, and zero citizen complaints: Monterrey, Mexico; Paulinia, Brazil; and Foshan and Qingpu, China.

Employer of choice
As an employer of choice, INVISTA is committed to conducting all affairs lawfully and with integrity. This means that the company strives to ensure lawful labor practices and maintain a work environment free from discrimination where individuals are treated with dignity, respect, honesty, and sensitivity.

Being a good corporate citizen
INVISTA strives to be a good corporate citizen across the globe, through monetary contributions, in-kind donations and volunteer opportunities for employees. Here are some examples of stewardship projects specific to INVISTA’s apparel fiber operations:

  • In response to the flood in Rio de Janeiro at the beginning of 2011, INVISTA reached out to victims by donating more than 13,000 items, including bottled water and personal hygiene items.
  • Employees from INVISTA Apparel’s Maydown, United Kingdom, site have donated their time to various charities in their community, including grounds-keeping at a local hospice.
  • Every year, INVISTA’s Waynesboro, Virginia, site hosts both a river-cleanup day and a household hazardous waste collection day for the local community.
In the wake of the March 11, 2011, earthquake and tsunami in Japan, INVISTA’s parent company, Koch Industries, Inc., donated 1 million U.S. dollars for disaster relief efforts, giving $500,000 each to the American.
