MIL has invested around Rs. 100 crores over the last two years for upgrading of technology and purchase of new state-of-the-art machines for their manufacturing facilities at Nadiad and Navsari, in the state of Gujarat.
This equipment has been very meticulously selected with a view to reduce energy requirement, steam consumption and water consumption in the manufacturing processes.
A 3 MW co-generation plant is also being installed in the Nadiad factory which will co-generate steam and power, alongwith a reduction of the carbon and water footprints.
Several steps have also been initiated for water harvesting and recycling of chemicals and water during the manufacturing process.
MIL is also working on the usage of BCI cotton in their premium products for fabrics being produced/delivered for exports and global customers.
BCI Cotton is an initiative taken by several brands in which the cotton being used for textile production requires a lower quantity of water and pesticides. The Better Cotton Initiative (BCI) is a not-for-profit organisation stewarding the global standards for Better Cotton, and bringing together cotton’s complex supply chain, from the farmers to the retailers.
MIL is the first company to introduce eco-friendly fibre dyed suiting in the school uniform range. Fibre dyed suiting have the advantage of uniformity in shades, high color depth and retention and offer over 60 shades.
