Sustainable Products

Our R&D labs continually work at developing new products to eliminate and substitute hazardous substances. We have a team of chemists fully dedicated to textile chemicals in Archroma’s Product Stewardship departments, and an international network of specialized product safety labs in Switzerland, India, Pakistan or China.

Our efforts are regularly recognized with the highest certification standards or well-established industry standards. In 2012 we received the ICIS Innovation Award for our Advanced Denim concept, in 2007 the EPA “P2 Recognition Project” Award for our Cartaspers^® PSM, our deposit control product used in paper manufacturing.

• In 2002 we voluntarily developed, jointly with the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and 4 other companies, the 2010/2015 PFOA Stewardship Program aiming at removing PFOA even as an impurity. This commitment led in 2006 to the development of Nuva^® N, an advanced C6-based fluorochemical for sustainable repellency and release solutions that not only reached the target (it is PFOA and PFOS free (below limits of detection)) but allows similar performance to the C8 chemistry being phased out.

• In 2013, Archroma launched Arkophob^® FFR, a fluorine free water repelllent.With Arkophob^® FFR, Archroma also offers an alternative, and more importantly an efficient one, to conventional fluorocarbon-based repellency products.
